Session for:

Confidence in Public Performance

& Speaking

Describe what issue you wanted to resolve in your RTT session:

Lack of confidence when presenting to large groups and within work meetings, playing my clarinet in small groups and in public performances. I wanted to stop experiencing the symptoms that arose from the lack of confidence in these areas of my life and enjoy them instead.

Describe the negative symptoms / triggers / habits caused by the issue, and how they impacted upon your life:

Symptoms caused consisted of sweaty palms, shallow breathing, body shaking and causing me to withdraw from particular activities. In regard to my clarinet playing, it made it difficult as my breathing became irregular and my hands would shake which makes playing a wind instrument very difficult, in work meetings I would get nervous about speaking up which sometimes made it difficult for me to be articulate and get my points across.

Describe how Suzie made you feel during your Discovery call / consultation in preparation for your session, and during the RTT session itself:

I felt very relaxed and calm, I felt Suzie was really listening to me. Suzie made me feel that everything I said mattered and was important, because of this I was able to open up completely.

Briefly, describe how Suzie identified what you wanted to achieve from the session and how she gathered information about life without the problem:

Firstly, we discussed what I wanted to change in my life, how lack of confidence was making me feel and barriers it was creating. We then spoke about the freedom from lack of confidence, how my life would change and what doors this newfound confidence would open, how I would enjoy those experiences I haven't been able to before.

Briefly describe how you felt whilst reviewing the scenes from your past during the hypnosis session. How did you feel at the end of the session?

During the session I felt like a spectator watching a movie of moments in my life, I was amazed of how far back I went and how emotional I became. At the end of the session I felt drained but also uplifted as I had been able to remove baggage that was stopping me from reaching my full potential.

Describe your understanding of how the beliefs your formed as a result of the scenes from your past, negatively impacted your life:

As a child I felt that I had to be good at everything and this included performing, I was extremely shy, and this was difficult for me. I was encouraged to perform in front of my parents or in a school concert. But due to my shyness I did not enjoy this, and I would start to shake, and my palms would sweat. I would then be very critical of myself as it stopped me doing well. I have been very hard on myself, and I get very frustrated when I can't do something well, as I feel like I should be able to.

What was your light-bulb moment?

I realised that my need to please my parents and be good at everything especially in performance situations was putting pressure on me, and rather than enjoying the moment or being confident in the skills / abilities I increased the anxiety causing nervousness. This then continued in my adult work and social life.

How did you let go of the negative emotions of those past scenes?

My scenes were mainly from my childhood, I went back to particular scenes I wanted to go back. I spent time talking and encouraging my younger self to look at the situations from a positive view, looking at how my parents and teachers were just being encouraging and that they were proud. I also looked at how I would encourage if it was my stepson or niece in that situation, how I would tell them to just be themselves and how proud I would be.

How often, and how long did you listen to your personal transformation recording for?

I listened to my recording once a day for about 2 and a half weeks and I still listen to it now when I feel I need to.

How many sessions did you need to get the result you wanted?

2 sessions.

What positive changes have YOU noticed in yourself and in your life, since doing the work in the session and listening to the recording?

I feel more confident in my clarient playing in performances, the shaking is much less, and my breathing is steadier. I feel confident in talking in large groups and I am happy to be volunteered in work activities to be the spokesperson. I felt very calm and relaxed at my last job interview which helped me to sell myself and my experiences.

What things are you able to do now, that you were not able to do before?

I joined my church band which has encouraged me to perform with a very small band, sometimes being the only other musician.  I had a job interview in which I felt very calm and confident which helped in me performing well and getting the job!

What changes have people around you noticed and commented upon?

I now play in the church band; my husband has noticed how calm I look when playing and how much I look like I am enjoying it.

Would you recommend Suzie to other people, and why?

Definitely! I was cynical about the experience and how it would benefit me beforehand. But it really does work, and I would highly recommend it. Suzie has the most calming and reassuring voice putting you at ease from the moment you sit down.
